With the end of 2025 in sight, things are looking pretty good, but there are still many issues affecting our local business community. We've seen quite a few new businesses open, however we've also unfortunately seen many forced to close. Commercial insurance rates are continuing to rise, with some property owners experiencing increases as high as 30%. In response to this trend, it's important for businesses to implement proactive risk management strategies. In addition, commercial rents are still rising, regulations and fines are continuing to place a burden on business owners, and the effects of tariffs and inflation are starting to impact business. On a bright and sunny Thursday, June 13 , North Brooklyn Chamber celebrated the grand opening of Dental Avenue Greenpoint with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as friends and family gathered to show their support for the new venture of Dr. Jason Bastida.

Dr. Jason Bastida, DDS, is the founder of Dental Avenue Greenpoint and a second-generation dentist from Great Neck, New York. He also practices with his father in Jackson Heights, where he has worked for the past six years.

A year ago, while walking around the neighborhood, Dr. Jason saw a yoga studio having a garage sale and discovered they were moving out. Two months later, he signed a lease to turn the space into a dental office. Now, Dental Avenue Greenpoint has been open for two months, demonstrating how much can change in a year.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Jason, a Greenpoint resident, enjoys running along the North Brooklyn waterfront, lamenting his existence as a Mets fan, and spending time with his friends and his wife, Kelsey, in the best neighborhood in the city.
